Postcards were a way to send a birthday greeting, such as this one.
The card was postmarked from Rochester, N.Y. in 1914, and sent to:
Mr Chas E. Bender
May you have many Happy Birthdays is the wish of us both.
the letter came this A.M. it was from K Bauer
I will write mor later
We found every
thing all O.K.
ever your Geo & Anna
Postcards of the 19th Century were more like hand-done greeting cards, often with raised lettering [like this card] and other ornamentation ~ and mailed for only a penny!
This card was not actually mailed, and on the reverse the sender has written :
"From Aunt Helen and Uncle Mose[sic]"
